Jessica Szymas, a Grand Rapids native, is a licensed counselor and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist with over 15 years of experience supporting individuals and couples through relational and sexual challenges. After earning a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology in 2012, she launched her private practice, focusing on issues such as sexual desire discrepancies, pain during sex, gender identity, sexual trauma, and relationship struggles. In 2021, she became an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist, expanding her ability to help clients navigate sexual shame and build healthier relationships. Through her education, training, and exposure to diverse communities, Jessica has developed a strong cross-cultural competence, valuing the role of cultural and individual diversity in her therapeutic work.
Now back in Grand Rapids, Jessica combines her expertise in mental health counseling and sex therapy to create a warm, non-judgmental space for clients to explore difficult topics. She is known for her authenticity, empathy, and practical approach, helping individuals unpack their past, understand their current struggles, and work toward healing and growth. Whether navigating sexual challenges, improving communication, or addressing complex relational issues, Jessica provides the tools and support clients need to move forward with confidence.
Specialties include: religious sexual shame, desire discrepancy in partnerships, pain during sex, erectile dysfunction, low or inhibited sexual desire, gender identity, sexual abuse, post-partum recovery, and poly/open-relationships.
